using TweetWall during an event
The conversation that people have via Twitter is what we call the “back-channel”, and often the place where great questions are asked, opinions expressed and conversation takes place. It is also a new commercial opportunity that you can now monetise and use to engage with the audience whilst your event is in full swing.

Before your Event

It still amazes us how many event organizes don’t put the event #hashtag in their programs or let people know when they sign up. Even some of the speakers are often asking on twitter what the hashtag for the event is…Lets all agree that this needs to stop and from now on you will all take control of this
If you don’t know what hashtag to use then here are 3 simple tips

  • Keep it in line with the event name – so if your event is called Smart Mobile 2011, then #smartmobile or #smobile11 would work.
  • Make it as short as possible as you want people to include it in all their tweets. If your event is the Agricultural Transmission Show don’t make that the hashtag, instead go for ATS2011 or something similar.
  • Double check if it is not already used for something you don’t want to be associated with. You can do this very easily by here.
